The problem: a jungle of reporting obligations

German mid-market companies face a wave of reporting obligations with hard deadlines and steep penalties:

  • CSRD (sustainability report): From fiscal year 2025 for companies over 250 employees. Penalty up to EUR 10M.
  • NIS2 (IT security): From 2025 for companies with 50+ employees in critical sectors. Penalty up to EUR 10M plus personal CEO liability.
  • LkSG (Supply Chain Act): Since 2024 for companies with 1,000+ employees. Penalty up to 2% of annual revenue.
  • CRA (Cyber Resilience Act): Reporting obligations from September 2026. Penalty up to EUR 15M.
  • GDPR: Ongoing, data-breach notification within 72 hours. Penalty up to 4% of annual revenue.
  • EU Taxonomy: In parallel with CSRD.
  • CBAM (carbon border adjustment): Full obligation from 2026.

No mid-market company has a compliance team that oversees all of these obligations. External consultants cost EUR 30,000 to 150,000 per regulation per year.
